We are recruiting a target-oriented scientist working at the forefront of science, engineering, and technology. As a member of our technical team, you will be responsible for contributing to the process development of our new, safe, and disruptive fluorinating processes and scaling-up our technology. You will be part of a growing team of inspiring and supportive the scientific and operation development of FluoRok – contributing to the revolution of fluorination chemistry worldwide. Key Responsibilities
- First-hand opportunity to scale-up a range of technologies to industry-relevant kilogram-plus scales
- Deliver high purity materials for customer sampling, analysis and testing
- Design and execute process improvements
- Play a considerable role in technology transfer documentation for plant production
- Contribute to health and safety studies such as HAZID and HAZOP
- On-site visits and troubleshooting at FluoRok’s demonstrator facilities in the north of England
- Routinely conduct quality control (QC) and stage-gate analysis of materials
- Work at the interface of the engineering team at FluoRok
Essential
- Degree (BSc/BEng/MChem/MSc/MEng or equivalent) in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering and 6 years’ + experience in a relevant industrial setting such as a process chemist/scale-up role
- Experience in working on scale using jacketed reactor vessels (>10 L) or equivalent
- Experience of high containment / high purity target synthesis such as pharmaceuticals or battery materials
- Analytical mindset with experience of tracking materials/impurities throughout process
- Experience in carrying out safety and risk assessment of scale-up processes
- Demonstrable ability to work efficiently on your own or as part of a team
- Excellent verbal and written communication in English and interpersonal skills
- Right to live and work in the UK
Desirable
- Experience of pilot plant production
- Experience of process analytical technology
- Scale-up experience in both batch and continuous regimes
Salary range £45,000-£55,000 per annum
