We will help to revolutionise personal mobility and transform our towns and cities with clean, noise-free air transportation.
Evolito develops and manufactures class-leading, lightweight, high-power, and high-torque-density electric propulsion systems for a range of aerospace markets, including EVTOL, Unmanned Aerial Vehicles and General Aviation.
As well as ultra-high performance, low-weight electric motors and controllers, Evolito specialises in high integrity, bespoke battery systems for the aerospace and defence markets. The team is scaling rapidly and has ambitious growth plans over the next twelve to eighteen months.
As part of our current high-growth phase, we are looking for a Drivetrain Modelling and Simulations Engineer to join the team to develop sophisticated mechatronic models of electrical propulsion systems that incorporate software, power electronics, e-motors, batteries, gearboxes etc as part of a Digital Twin approach that optimises the electric drivetrain performance.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Develop electrical propulsion systems that incorporate software, power electronics, e-motors, batteries, gearboxes etc in model-based simulation environment (Matlab, Simulink, Simscape)
- Optimise design parameters by simulating (dynamically and statically) project requirements (flight cycles, dynamic performance, abnormal conditions, etc)
- Validate models by designing test methods (Design of Experiments) and analysing test data to correlate statistically the simulation results
- Maintain simulation models and results using the Evolito configuration management process
- Produce simulation analysis reports and presentations
- Support the Digital Twin approach by developing methods and tools to link simulation results with the actual test data and optimise system design
- Support software verification activities by providing models and harnesses for MIL and HIL tests
- Support technical discussions with customers
- Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders
- Assist with the identification of viable future improvements.
Skills and experience required:
- Degree in electrical/mechanical/mechatronics engineering or similar
- Proven experience solving complex technical problems using simulation modelling tools such as MATLAB/Simulink/Simscape
- Good understanding of the electric drivetrain components (PMSMs, Gearboxes, Inverters, Batteries) and ability to model them
- Basic understanding of control and optimisation theories (PID controllers, data fitting, optimisation algorithms)
- Experience with data analysis and correlation using Matlab or Python scripts
- Experience with HIL environments (dSpace, SpeedGoat, etc), is desirable
- Awareness of engineering design process (preferably within an aerospace environment)
- Instinctive problem-solving skills coupled with a sound analytical approach
- Ability to work under pressure while managing conflicting demands against tight deadlines
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
