We’re looking for an electrical and mechanical technician to join our experienced engineering team and deliver transformative laser communications technology. You will support the production and build of our optical communications technology. In this role, you will work closely with our engineering team.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Assembly, Integration and Test of Electrical, Mechanical, Optical systems for prototypes and products.
- You will support the physical build of high-precision optical equipment, harnessing for electrical systems and assembly of mechanical systems.
- Ensuring quality and documentation of build processes.
- Manufacturing and assembly of mechanical parts.
- 3D Printing of parts.
- Acceptance testing of outsourced parts.
- Ordering and managing outsourced components.
- Maintaining configuration control.
- Collaboration with the engineering team to improve manufacturing processes and resolve technical challenges.
- Harnessing: Building prototype harnesses and acceptance testing for outsourced parts.
- Supporting in-field maintenance.
- Supporting deployment and installation of new systems.
Requirements:
- A proactive, detail-oriented approach with the ability to work independently and problem-solve.
- Strong electro-mechanical assembly experience, including soldering, wiring, and mechanical build.
- Willingness to work hands on in a lab environment.
- Willingness to travel abroad.
Desirable additional skills:
- Experience working with optics.
- Experience completing an apprenticeship programme.
- Experience working with CAD tools like SolidWorks, RapidHarness.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Basic PCB layout.
Location: Our office is based in Osney Mead, Oxford. This is an on-site role. You may be required to travel for business as needed.
