We are seeking a skilled and hands on Manufacturing Engineer to support the development, optimisation, and validation of post processing manufacturing solutions for additive manufactured parts. This role supports the Manufacturing Development Director in transforming AM builds into production ready components that meet strict functional, cosmetic, and performance standards. You will work across disciplines, collaborating with materials scientists, design engineers, NPI teams, and production operations, to ensure post processing methods are efficient, scalable, and compliant with customer specifications.
Process Development & Implementation
- Design and implement post processing manufacturing sequences for AM components, including support removal, surface finishing, heat treatment, and surface treatment or coating operations
- Develop and execute Design of Experiments to optimise process parameters and validate manufacturing steps
- Create detailed work instructions and process documentation to ensure repeatability and quality consistency
- Collaborate with NPI teams to transition prototype processes into full scale production environments
- Participate in the validation of manufacturing processes to ensure they meet defined customer requirements for performance and quality
Technical Analysis & Optimisation
- Analyse manufacturing data to identify opportunities for cycle time reduction and labour intensity optimisation
- Implement process improvements focused on scalability and automation integration
- Validate that all post processing steps meet customer specifications through comprehensive testing protocols
Documentation & Communication
- Prepare technical reports documenting manufacturing results, process capabilities, and quality metrics
- Present findings and recommendations to internal stakeholders and external customers
- Maintain comprehensive process documentation including standard operating procedures and quality control checkpoints
- Support customer audits and technical reviews with detailed process validation data
- Cross Functional CollaborationWork closely with operations and NPI teams to ensure smooth handover of validated processes to production
- Interface with quality assurance teams to establish inspection criteria and acceptance standards
- Collaborate with design engineering to provide manufacturability feedback on new component designs
- Support business development activities by providing technical expertise during customer engagements
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or related technical discipline
- One or more years of experience in a manufacturing or process engineering role
Technical Skills
- Proficiency in statistical analysis software and DOE methodologies
- Experience with CAD software such as SolidWorks or NX for fixture design
- Knowledge of GD&T, measurement systems, and quality control principles
- Familiarity with AM technologies
- Understanding of materials science principles

Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced degree in engineering or materials science
- Experience with automation and robotics integration in manufacturing environments
- Knowledge of aerospace, automotive, or consumer electronics manufacturing requirements
- Certification in Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, or similar process improvement methodologies
- Experience with ERP or MES systems and digital manufacturing tools
