Testing Technician

Alloyed is a young venture-funded company of around 100 world-class metallurgists, mechanical engineers, technicians, and software developers working across three offices in the UK and one in the US, building the future of advanced metal components. We use proprietary software packages which combine advanced machine learning and physical modelling, as well as extensive experimental facilities, to 3D print metal components better and faster than anyone else.

At our premises in Seattle, WA we are aiming to build the world’s fastest, smartest, and best-equipped facility to produce additively manufactured parts for the aerospace and industrial sectors.

Alloyed is seeking a hands-on and detail-oriented Testing Technician to support mechanical testing and metrology operations at our South Seattle facility. Your primary responsibilities will include preparing and testing tensile specimens, performing surface roughness and thickness measurements, and completing associated quality documentation.

You’ll work closely with engineering and production teams to align on schedules and priorities, ensuring accurate and timely testing to support manufacturing and quality goals. Training will be provided as needed, and some travel may be required.

  • Prepare and test tensile specimens according to internal procedures and ASTM standards.
  • Perform metrology tasks, including surface roughness and thickness measurements, using calibrated equipment.
  • Complete quality documentation and maintain accurate, traceable test records in compliance with AS9100D requirements.
  • Communicate with engineering and production teams to coordinate testing schedules and report results.
  • Support continuous improvement by maintaining clean, organized workspaces and assisting in procedure development.
  • Work to create and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) for the testing protocols.
  • Familiarity with mechanical testing equipment and procedures, particularly tensile testing of metallic materials.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, material specifications, and work instructions.
  • Experience working within a quality management system (QMS), ideally in an ISO 9001 or AS9100-certified environment.
  • Strong attention to detail with a commitment to accurate data entry, documentation, and record-keeping.
  • Comfortable working independently or collaboratively in a fast-paced, production-focused setting.
  • Experience operating and programming universal testing machines (e.g., Instron, MTS) with digital data acquisition systems.
  • Familiarity with advanced metrology techniques and experience with dimensional analysis tools such as 3D scanning.
  • Prior involvement in root cause analysis or nonconformance investigations.
  • Experience supporting NADCAP, AS9100, through test record review and documentation traceability.
