Metrologist – CMM

Alloyed is a young venture-funded company of around 150 world-class metallurgists, mechanical engineers, technicians, and software developers working across three offices in the UK and one in the US, building the future of advanced metal components. We use proprietary software packages which combine advanced machine learning and physical modelling, as well as extensive experimental facilities, to 3D print metal components better and faster than anyone else.

At our premises in Yarnton and Abingdon, near Oxford, we are aiming to build the world’s fastest, smartest, and best-equipped facility for the rapid development of additively manufactured parts for the electronics, aerospace and industrial sectors, and novel metal alloys for better performance.

Alloyed is seeking a Metrologist to join our organisation. Your primary responsibilities will be to operate automated metrology equipment to inspect high performance components. You will work within the inspection team to ensure the efficient and accurate execution of this process. Your attention to detail, and commitment to quality will be critical in producing high-quality components.

You will work closely with the engineering and operations teams, and report directly to the Metrology Manager in Abingdon where this role will be based. Training will be provided as required.

  • Programming and operation of CMM Metrology equipment – Renishaw Agility / Modus
  • Support project teams throughout product development
  • Maintain accurate logs of measured parts
  • Support and organise tool calibration to retain traceability
  • Share knowledge with metrology team to enhance overall team capabilities
  • 2 years experience CMM programming using Renishaw - Modus
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings / GD&T
  • Strong understanding of engineering fundamentals
  • Organised and able to work independently, but also to collaborate with a diverse, fast-moving team
  • Hands-on attitude and willingness to learn new skills
  • High level of attention to detail
  • Interest in working in high-accuracy engineering environment
  • Experience in the following fields:
    - 3D Structured Light Scanning Equipment (GOM Inspect)
    - XCT (Weygate Technologies, Volume Graphics Studio)
    - Optical Profilometer (Alicona)
  • Design and manufacture of jigs/fixturing used for measurement
  • Computer coding/data analysis skills
  • Knowledge of statistical process control
  • Willing to work flexible hours if required
